Karl Schwarzschild's Pocket Watch[]
Origin[]
Karl Schwarzschild provided the first exact solution to Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity.
Effects[]
Its exact properties are unclear, but they are presumably related to the manipulation of or travel through space-time.
History[]
After becoming an enhanced Caretaker of Warehouse 13 and taking control of Claudia Donovan, Paracelsus had her gather this artifact along with Pierre-Simon Laplace's telescope, Theodosius of Bithynia's sundial, and H.G. Wells' Time Machine so as to allow him to travel back in time and prevent his own bronzing by Warehouse 9.
Upon entering his alternate timeline, the agents of Warehouse 13 reconstructed his time machine and followed him back to Warehouse 9 to undo his alterations.
Real World Connections[]
Karl Schwarzschild (1873 - 1916) was a German physicist and astronomer who provided the first exact solution to the Einstein field equations of general relativity, for the limited case of a single spherical non-rotating mass, which he accomplished in 1915, the same year that Einstein first introduced general relativity. This solution leads to a derivation of the Schwarzschild radius, which is the size of the event horizon of a non-rotating black hole; this connects him and his artifact to the Marquis de Laplace, who postulated the existence of black holes and whose artifact presumably creates them.

Pierre-Simon Laplace's Telescope[]
Origin[]
The Marquis de Laplace was a French astronomer and mathematician who was the first to postulate the existence of black holes.
Effects[]
Its exact properties are unclear, but they are presumably related to the creation of black holes.
History[]

Real World Connections[]
Pierre-Simon, Marquis de Laplace (1749 - 1827) was a French polymath, a scholar whose work has been instrumental in the fields of physics, astronomy, mathematics, engineering, statistics, and philosophy. He restated and developed the nebular hypothesis of the origin of the Solar System and was one of the first scientists to suggest an idea similar to that of a black hole, with Stephen Hawking stating that "Laplace essentially predicted the existence of black holes".
Laplace also originated the concept of Laplace's demon, a hypothetical all-predicting intellect. It is a notable published articulation of causal determinism (which proposes that all actions and events are determined by an infinitely regressing chain of prior actions and events stretching back to the origin of the universe, and thus that nothing has no cause or is self-caused), postulating that if someone (the demon) knows the precise location and momentum of every particle in the universe, their past and future values for any given time are entailed; they can be calculated from the laws of classical mechanics. Fittingly, or perhaps ironically, Paracelsus used his artifact to alter the past, thus altering the present to fit his design.

Origin[]
Theodosius of Bithynia was a Greek astronomer.
Effects[]
Its exact properties are unclear, but they are related to time and presumably the manipulation of or travel through it.

Real World Connections[]
Theodosius of Bithynia (2nd - 1st century BC) was an ancient Greek astronomer and mathematician who wrote the Spherics, a treatise about spherical geometry. The ancient Roman architect Vitruvius cited Theodosius as having invented a universal sundial that could be used anywhere on Earth, though no more is known of its qualities.
